Translation

On August 2, two aquariums in Japan began displaying a rare jellyfish.

It is called the "Kagutsuchi jellyfish", named after Japan's god of fire.

That is because its long arm-like threads sway just like flames.

This jellyfish was discovered in 2022 in the sea around Kumejima, Okinawa.

After researchers examined it closely, it was confirmed in 2026 to be a new kind of creature.

Being able to see it at two aquariums is a world first.

Why six school grades, and not N5–N1?

Because that is how Japanese children learn to read. Japan's Ministry of Education fixes exactly which character belongs to which grade — so "grade 3" is a boundary you can verify, not a feeling. Every article here is machine-checked: if a single character sits above its grade, it is not published.

The result: you never hit a character you have not learned. That is the whole reason this product exists.
